Random Thoughts.....

If you have a front load washer and haven’t ever taken the front rubber boot off that seals the drum to the door you may want to. We have had ours for about 5 yrs. Use them a lot. We use the little tabs to “clean it once a month” as recommended but a week ago I noticed a stink. Wife did the “clean cycle” which is like the hottest and almost 2hrs long with a cleaner tab and vinegar. Seemed to go away then hit again Friday. I tore it apart today and the ABSOLUTE FUNK that was trapped all behind where it seals to the drum was enough to make me gag. I’d like to think we are pretty clean folks around our place but holy damn!!!! When these give out I will never own a front load again. Didn’t take pics cause honestly I feel embarrassed at how disgusting it was.
I've heard the same from many folks w/ front loaders.
We're still rockin' the 25+ y/o top loader that came w/ the house and will continue to.

yeah we had a a maytag neptune set given to us as wedding gifts. For those who dont know - collossal disaster resulting in class action lawsuits and nearly bankrupting maytag at the time. I swore off front loaders "forever"

We moved in '24 and wife really wanted a front loader. I gave in since she does all the laundry. Two years they have been trouble free and damn nice. I even check regularly for mold buildup and none so far.

My wife our entire marriage has done something I had never heard of but makes sense...and I stay out of it because she does the laundry and dishes.

But about once a month she washes and dishwasher and wash machine. Essentially she will run a few cycles through each on the hottest setting with soap and/or bleach and no load. I used the think it was wasteful but...I pick my battles.

Shit I do that now. I even buy the snake oil to throw in the things when I do it.

We also leave our front load washer door and detergent drawer wide open when not in use.

When we do bed sheets the numbers work out that there's a partial set. We just run that one at full and use extra detergent, on the philosophy its getting some extra free cleaning.
Does it do anything? No idea. But the thing doesn't stink... well except when my dumb ass forgets I left a load in there that should have gone into the dryer.
But hum, maybe its the occasional extra running for those oopsies thats doing it. Who knows.

The only thing I ever do/did when we had a top loader it had the center agitated with the softener dispenser we never used. Crud would collect in there and whenever Id wash towels Id dump some bleach down that tube

Somebody has had cables marked in my yard and I came home when guy was marking again and asked him who called it in because I don't want them digging up my yard, I just reseeded and they ALWAYS try to dig it up when I have. He was thinking the Fiber people and we were going through his notes and figured it was Piedmont Nat Gas and they were wanting to abandon my gas line that I don't use so I know who to talk to now to stop them (for the second time) I thanked the guy for his help and he enthusiastically said "You're welcome, we Scooby Dood the MFr!" I got a kick out of that one! lol
