Random ZJ question

I bought my '93 ZJ about a month ago and I'm getting to know it. It has the red lenses on the inside of the doors, that look like lights (so when you open the door nobody will hit it), but I popped the lenses off to check the bulbs and there is no light behind them. Is this normal?

the best i remember that is just a reflector,some models had them while others don't,i've got a 93 zj and it don't have them

OK, good to know. I don't think they'll be very effective as a reflector since there is no reflective background. I might put some metal tape behind them.

you don't need reflective tape behind them for them to be reflective. go out at night, open your door, stand back and shine a flashlight in the general direction of the door. Light Reflection and Refraction is an interesting thing
