So I bought a new 2012 ram 3500 in October 2012. Night I bought it and got it home I noticed that it was scratched badly in several places. Mainly corners of the cab and fenders. I called the sales man and told him that they scratched it badly when they washed it while we were finishing the paper work. The manager had me bring it in and they agreed to fix it.
They had a outside company that does mobile paint repair(color match auto or something like that) come out and fix the places that were through the paint and they buffed the whole thing. It looked perfect when I got it back. I was happy.
Fast forward to today and evidently Ray Charles and Ronnie Milsap still work there washing the vehicles. I took it in for a recall on the tie rod and to have new rear fender flares installed after the factory ones had come loose in a few places.
The truck is covered in very deep swirl marks and some scratches. The truck was dirty when I took it in but the paint was in perfect shape. No swirl marks at all and definitely no scratches. I am very anal about keeping my truck nice. Thing that pisses me off even more is that I specifically asked the service manager to make a note to be careful with the truck because of the last time they had it.
I am worried that after being buffed so much the first time to remove the scratches and now the need to be seriously buffed all over again that it may effect the lifespan and effectiveness of the clear coat. My understanding is buffing it removes a little clear coat to even out the surface causing it to be more shiny. If they have to buff it yet again to remove some serious scratches then how much clear coat is left.
I bought this truck to have for a long time and this just pisses me off. What would y'all ask to be done about it? Am I overreacting about the effect buffing will have on it? Sorry for the long post but I work hard for my money and the payment that comes with that truck aint cheap.
