I got bored Sunday and decided to paint the quarter panels of the Jeep black. I used satin black Krylon paint. This is only the second time I've painted anything on a vehicle. First being the black below the doors that goes all the way back. I think it turned out pretty good. I'm really thinking about painting the entire Jeep that color. It took less than an hour and a half including taping, sanding etc. Here it is during paint after the second coat...

And here's what I ended up with...

i like it im doing the same thing to my truck that way if i scratch the hell out of the paint i can touch it up for bout a $1 lol

I like it but get ready to get a bashing from some members because they don't like anything but shiny paint jobs. I got it when I posted pics of mine after I sprayed it in flat black primer with a gun. I think it looks tough and I don't have to worry about scratching it in the woods or some idiot door dinging it in a parking lot. Looks great! Keep up the good work!

Oh well I like it and I think it looks good. It's not shiny but it'll do. I only gave $300 for the Jeep so I'm not worried about dings or dents. I appreciate it man, thanks!

looks good man. you should do the front to match, and if you go hog wild you can do the doors too.

'Preciate it man. I'm thinking about following the line of the quarter panels all the way down so it'd be two tone. I think that would look real good!

If you you do go with the rest of the Jeep, I have a source for a hot rod black in kits. I use this supplier pretty often, and it might be a good option for you. It would easier to apply and save a little money if you have to cover a lot. A quart kit runs about $46.00 and makes 1.5 qts of sprayable material. It is a activated paint, so it will have the strength of a two part automotive clear. You would just want to wet sand the surface with P600 first, and wipe it down with wax/grease remover, or alcohol. This might be a cheaper alternative if you plan on doing the entire truck below the trim. It comes in different colors, and even metallics. Just wear a respirator if you spray this stuff. Hit me up if you ever need any paint/body advice.
