got to play with my new rc truck last night on a full charge... it didnt last long though...ran into the light pole doing ~25mph (wide open) time to upgrade to some aluminum wheels instead of these plastic ones :D doing some research last night i found that they make beadlocks and mini boggers for these things.... its awn now :huggy:

i'm trying to decide which route to go with this one... balls out fast or torquey and slow... with a good esc (electronic speed control) and a good remote, you could possibly do both... im researching now to see what route i go with... might just build a custom crawler and keep this high speed :)

For the price you cant beat the Nylint rockcrawlers at Wal-Mart. Just make sure if you buy one to get the smaller 1.18 scale cause they work a lot better. I got mine for christmas and i love it. I've already ordered my 2.2 Boggers and wheels and now im looking for some beadlocks, another axle for rear steer, and better steering.
 
I just got one of the big rock crawlers from walmart. I think its way better than the smaller one(I have a small one too). With the big one you can switch from high to low on the remote and it has a variable speed controller. I had it in the creek behind my parents house today, it was a blast.

good luck running larger tires and wheels! the puny axles in the 1:18 just cant handle them.....ask me how i know :flipoff2: if you insist, shim up the motor in the axle (duct tape, paper, whatever u can stuff in there) and be easy on the steering. I ran larger tirs for a while, but i have officially toasted the motors in my axles.

I ran up at tellico with my wally crawler (the bigger one) on the back of my jeep. it was fun while waiting for your turn at the obstacle and back at camp. I bought my girlfriends son the same one for christmas. now we can have our own supercrawl in the backyard.
 
i think id rather replace wheels, than put the strongest wheel you can find on there and start having to replace control arms and other parts that would get taken out if a control arm let go in a 25 mph light pole collision
 
Beadlocks for the rc machines are $$$. While it looks cool (and is stronger) to put all kinds of metal parts on your machine, this makes it a lot heavier and you will end up breaking something else.

Ends up being similiar to a real truck. The stock powerplant will seem worse and worse, runtimes will get worse, and the parts add up fast :(

Most r/c gear boxes I have seen are all plastic, so attempt to break the cheap easier stuff to get at. Hope you have fun with it. I have a couple of projects that are in pieces after mishaps.

You might want to consider checking ebay one in a while. Buying a whole vehicle and stealing parts off it can work out in the long run. Then you have other things to work with on your custom one.
 
Or, you could stop running into stuff at high speeds!:flipoff2: Looks like fun though.
