RCV shafts in a dana44

Does anyone here have rcv shafts in a dana44 of any type? I'm considering some in my lj rubicon d44 and was just wondering how they were.

Won't these eliminate the binding at full steering lock?

Do these click or chatter?

Anything else to know about?

Is there a reason to NOT run them in a dana 44? I don't ever plan on an axle swap, and I don't ever plan on running larger than 37s, I just want one less failure point when I go wheeling. Should I keep/take my old shafts when I go wheeling, or am I nowhere near stressing the rcv shafts.

Any input is welcome. Thanks.

Always carry spare shafts man.

Levellinebrad on here runs them in his 44. He just broke one at the Gulches. But he's runnin 39 inch red label KM2s and he wheels pretty hard.

Pretty hard is an understatement. I can't believe he broke one though. There are a ton of guys running them out west and they don't break them.

I think it is safe to say the average wheeler isn't going to break an RCV. If you are gonna try and follow buggies in a JKU like Brad you may.

Wait, is he the guy in the white jk unlimited?

I like him, but he's crazy.

If that's him, then =

I've seen him wheel. Heavens. I'm a little(LOT) LESS crazy than that.

Ill be interested to hear how they do on the warranty side. I have 1 rear double spline shaft from them(long story) and if it broke(not likely) I would just buy one from branik rather than trying to warranty it. If I remember correctly it took 43 days to get it. I was less than pleased with their service.

I talked to the guys at rcv and they seem legit on standing behind there product, that was me getting a custom shaft, if u got the cash it would not be a bad idea, way better than stock or any cromo shaft I ran, had a 44 under a 4runner and broke 3 cromo's, went ahead and went back to a toy axle with longs but I had that option. IMO if I had a jeep and did not want to axle swap I would try a set.

Supposedly a new shaft was going out yesterday for Brad. We'll see when it shows up but from everything I have heard they are really good with warranty.

So from what I've seen, these usually break from big tires, while standing on the skinny pedal? What else usually causes these to break?

What are my chances with less than 37s and less aggressive skinny pedal application than Brad?:wheel:

Say usually? I mean there aren't a ton of them broken. And it still is a D44. 37's and rcv's are a great choice.

They will be my next axle shafts.

i had emailed back and forth with them at one point about the shafts to possibly put in my HP30. they were extremely helpful and very blunt with the "lifetime" warranty. i was told no questions asked...

just decent chunk of change for RCV's plus lockout hub conversion

I called, they asked for my address, showed up 2 days later. After he told me they would ship that afternoon he did ask how I broke them. They wanted to know if I had swapped to a hemi or LS motor. When I told them that the motor was bone stock, they were a little suprised. I think if I had stayed with a 37" tire, they would have never broken. The krawler measures 39 5/8" on the jeep which is taller than some 40's. They told me they will warranty the D44 up to a 40" tire. I have no complaints about the axles. Unfornunately something comes over me when I wheel and I do things that I probably shouldn't. I do have alot of fun though:wheel:

Thats good to hear about there service. Ill keep my mouth shut from now on since it has been a couple years. Now...Where's all the videos from gultches?
