Looking for some advice and words of wisdom before I attempt it. I've ridden all trails at URE including the "easy" side of Daniel. I haven't even ridden the first part to look.

I'm in an '08 Wrangler 2 door on 33's with about 3" of lift and haven't had any problems with the other trails.

I know some changes have been made to the ledges, so I'm thinking of taking a peek Sunday. Would love to scratch this off my bucket list...

What is the easy side of Daniel?

I didn't realize there was a hard side to Daniel. Especially after the trail paving.

You should have no issues. Just choose your lines wisely and take your time.

Thank you. I didn't mean to open a wound, I'm just a novice asking a question. I rode Uwharrie 25 years ago in my chevy truck, but now I'm much older and this is my DD so can't afford to tear it up. I just want to have fun.

Also, I do not want to block the trail by being somewhere I shouldn't be. So I've heard some work was done and it might be doable. I also ride alone, so I have to be extra careful not to put myself in a bad position. That's all.

One man's "easy" is another's "terrifying", lol

I think with 33's and 3" lift your good to go.

As said just pick a good line, would be better if ya had a spotter though.

You didn't open a wound or anything like that. Sorry if somehow I came I came off that way. What I would do if I was you is first find someone to go with you. There is always people at the outpost. See if you can tag along with someone. Also make sure you walk the difficult sections first so you can make sure you choose a line you are comfortable with. If I didn't have to work I would make the trip out and hit Daniel with you.

I quoted you to say thank you and didn't mean to imply you came across wrong. I should have split up my posts.

Again, thank you and I appreciate your offer. I'm headed that way now and will walk it and check it out.

I received my Trasharoo this week so I'm going to try it out today.

I have been up and down many times in my 73 CJ5, 2.5" and 33's...diffs open/open. Choose your line, walk it first if you have to, and you can make it.

You will have no problems, when you get to the upper daniel area just stay to the left. Its really not difficult at all, just can be intimidating the first time.
I was going to Uwharrie 8 years ago and for the whole first year I was scared of Daniel because of stories, one day we went and I was kind of disappointed because Kodak was much more intimidating haha

My first time out at URE was this year, I drove 2.5 hours to get there so I already had my mind made up I was going to hit every trail. I went a couple times since and now the only ones I want to ride are Daniel and Dickey Bell.

So, we roll into the Outpost around 11am and I grab my obligatory pre-ride fried chicken snack. At this point I have no (real) intention on attempting Daniel, but was thinking of at least giving it a look later in the day.

Soooo, we disco, air down and head for the trails. My plan was to do my normal loop around and then think about Daniel.

Sooo as we're approaching that first intersection (Cotton Place) I say, well, we could go ahead and check it out... So, a left was made.

There were so few people around, I figured today would be a good day to check it out, and it might as well be first thing, so we head out. As we roll up to the ledge, I'm thinking no. I get out and hike up the hill and embrace the magnitude of attempting this alone (I'm thinking no even more). And, I see what looks like an oil puddle on the ground I'm REALLY thinking no.

I stroll back to the Jeep trying to manly say I'm tinkering with the idea of turning around and my dear lovely wife of 26 years simply says, " I think you can make that".

Well, hell, now it's on. I took the wimpy line to the right and walked right up...

Much to do about nuthin. I would like some help one day going up the tougher part, but I'm pretty happy. Great Father's Day. Hope you guys had a good one. See you on the trails.
