Like the title says what is a fair price for a 2001 silverado extended cab z-71 that's loaded with 199,000 miles? Has a small rust spot but rest of body is in great shape and interior is in really good shape for its age.

Assuming z-71 means 4wd, I'd guess anywhere from $4000-8000 depending on exactly how clean and well taken care of it is, and how quickly you want to sell it. I had a 2006 crewcab 2wd with 85k miles and it was all i could do to get $8000 out of it 2 years ago. Miles are going to hurt you more than anything, but the better you clean everything, the more you will get for it. And I don't mean just vacuum it. Really detail it, make it look like new. The best way is to take pictures, then analyze the pictures and things will stick out. Address those things. Also, when you post the ad, take pictures detailed pictures that show how clean it is, and put lots of them. People who want to pay good money for things want to have a good idea what they're getting.

I've gone over it twice cleaning armor alling washing windows engine bay. I have probably one or two calls a day but I've only had three people come look at it, one made a crazy low offer one made a solid offer then one couldn't come up with money and other went with another truck I have it listed for 7250 and have I think four pictures (both sides engine bay and interior) kbb is saying that's what there worth in ruff shape I know that's more than what I will take but I figured that would be a good starting point

I agree there is nothing worse than an inadequate amount of pictures. Also when the pictures make it look like it's a show car then when you show up it's a beater. But it's sounds like you have your bases covered just a tough crowd.

Just did a little CL searching, I'm guessing this is your ad: http://hickory.craigslist.org/cto/4385800451.html
It wouldn't hurt to take pictures on a sunny day with a better background, but I know thats been hard to find lately. Because of the dim light AND shadows, it just doesn't look "sharp" like it would on a bright day with more reflection.

Honestly though the biggest obstacle will be the fact that you're trying to sell a 13 year old truck with 200k miles. Its not cheap enough for the cheap people, and anyone who has $10k to spend on a truck will either want something with less miles or a diesel.

Yes that is it I realized it wasn't best conditions but it was what I was working with before dark... And ya I knew miles would turn some people away and I think your right about it being in a weird price range .

I sold an 01 Tahoe in 09...162k.
4wd
Loaded and Got $6,200.
That thing was spotless, brand new tires, you name it.

So I feel your pain. I'm not in the market, but if I was Id think $4-6k depening on how it runs, how good the tires are, options, etc.

I am not in the market, but I sold a similar truck with 50k less miles for 6500 a while back.

It's a solid 5,000 to 6,000 dollar truck to me, provided the rockers and cab corners are in good shape. That being said, I bought a 99 like yours (ex cab, long bed, auto, Z71, etc) for 1500 bucks with 143k on it. I rebuilt the trans and sold it for 3700. It had less miles on it than the 99 in my sig.

I still see the 99-02 trucks around here listen for 9,500 or so. Only way I would pay that is if it had less than 50k miles because some old man owned it! They're my favorite body style though....

You'll lose your ass selling a Tahoe or 'Burb though! Not sure why. However, anything you have is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.

it's a hard call, prices have been crazy up and down from the tax time rush lately, you do have high miles, but every other truck that age will as well-the silverados all get some serious mileage racked up on them. you do have a 4-door, so that helps a bit and the body looks cleaner than most. tack the front air dam back up in place & if there's any other little things that stick out that are cheap or free to fix and you'll see a couple $ more. I's expect to see 5500-6000 out of something like that, at 7250, it's a bit high, but most of the time you build a little wiggle room in, you're definitely in the ballpark

Just to add to what Matt & others are saying, as I look at the pics; > That air dam hanging, & it & the upper valance don't show any armor all, nor the tires = lighting issues? That color & interior, is Hard to get much color out of. Drivers side w/ doors open, step needs cleaning or paint, bottom door area shows paint wear, rubber mats are dirty; Back seat area> white spots on the seat & carpet, & rubber inserts are muddy. Jacket in front seat, makes one wonder if it was covering a split, & old leather never looks good,to me. Under the hood, > hoses need to be armor all-ed, & air intake>anything black. Detailers used to spray a clear shine on Everything; I forgot the name. The bed liner is dirty, you might try some flat black paint. AND >> Get that truck out of your driveway!! Your driveway is covered in oily spots, in every pic where the driveway shows! That's terrible. Get it on a Nice grass area, with nothing in the background, or as little background as possible. When we take pictures, were focused on the object, but when you go back & look [or others do] it's surprising how much everything else shows up. No offense, just my take. Good Luck!
