So I installed a 4" pro comp lift on my 78 cj5 and that thing is ridiculously stiff now. What are my options to soften it up a little? It has es9000 shocks.

Go flex the crap out of the springs in an attempt to break them in faster...or take out a leaf. After that, if you still don't like it....Alcan Spring is an amazing company and can make some springs that will ride great and flex just as well! A little pricey (cheaper than National or Deaver), but totally worth it!

X2.
We have had to do this before. But watch...after about two rides you will put them back in because the springs will set in much faster without the additional leaf!

Thanks guys I just got it to a point where I could do a shake down and was impressed with the capability but I hated how it rode. I definitely need some quick disconnect sway bar links too.

If the springs have bonded rubber bushings make sure you didn't tighten the bolts while the axles were hanging. Loosen all the bolts while its sitting on its own weight then re-tighten. I'm not sure what bushings procomp uses, they may be standard poly with a sleeve but it's worth a try.
