I have a 1996 bronco and I swapped the 8.8 from the rear in favor of a sterling 10.25. I used the factory leaf springs with a zero rate block that moved the axle one inch closer, a shackle flip, a longer shackle and i moved the front leaf spring mount back about 4 inches. I DID NOT use the factory block because they are S***. Now my pinion angle is off about 2 degrees. I went to order some shims and im just curious where in my set up i should put them. I think the only place i can put them is in between the factory leafs and the zero rate block. Is that ok? if i bolt them in like part of the leafs the set up would be: axle perch, Zero rate, angled shim, factory leaf pack, from bottom to top.
if i tried to put them on the below the zero rate, I wouldnt be able to bolt the shim in , becase if it was tight, it would block the bolt that goes through the leaf, and if i bolted the leaf together first, and then went to bolt the shim to the zero rate, i wouldnt be able to tighten that either. I hope this is making sense. Bascially, I'm just curious if its ok to bolt the two degree shim in between the bottom leaf in the leaf pack and the 1" zero rate block.
