rear brake compatibility?

Does anyone know if the the rear drum parking brake lever and bar (from the inside of the drum) from a 8.8 are compatible with a 9?
 
I'm not entirely sure the internals will sowap, but I have heard that you can swap the entire assembly, including backing plates form the 8.8 to the 9 and vice versa.
