Rear Draw Winch

I am looking into putting a rear draw winch on. Was wondering what size will work because I dont need it for recovery. Figured a 2500 lbs. would be enough. I would like to buy it local rather than off Flee-Bay so if anyone has some input it would be much appreciated.

Thanks RK, I picked up one of those at Northern Sat. Do you use a block or just straight pull?

someone may elaborate but its to draw down the rear of the rig for steep hills for traction or just to keep it from rolling

I have mine on a straight pull right now. I may add a pulley to it later, I've seen them with pulleys on other rigs.

I snapped the cable on mine last time out, it's been on for a year now. I'm going to clamp the cable back together for a quick fix. I think having a pulley would be easier on the cable since it would be double lined.

for going up or down?

In the rear it helps sidehilling and going down hill because it helps your springs from unloading in gettin light in the rear. It is the same for the front end. It is also called a suck down winch.
