I’m seeing a LOT of oil under my CJ7...SURPRISE!!!

I’m seeing oil from the front and rear crank seals... I’m mechanically inclined and already bought the seals and a new oil pan gasket. I generally know the job, the mess and the aggravation that comes with it. Looking for any advice, pointers, etc.

One question I do have is - anything special I need to know about installing the 2 piece seal with the trans still in the Jeep? I don’t see a reason why not... want a sanity check though!

Drop the pan, remove rear main bearing cap, use a long punch to start removing old seal, pull out with pliers, lube up new one and push it around the crank.
Make sure to orient the slit in the seal correctly (faces forward).
Repeat on the other half in the cap. Apply a thin bead of rtv across the cap where the bolt holes are so the cap itself will seal to the block.
Torque cap, reinstall pan, add oil, drink beer.

May as well check the valve cover while you are at it. They have been known to leak a little bit down back of motor.
