i have a YJ and i am wanting to swap out my rear springs with XJ rear springs, to move my wheel base back. just have a couple of questions. are the springs the same length? do the XJ springs hold more or less weight then the YJ springs? any help would be thankfull.

the springs are longer on a xj. i have some behind the barn at my dad's house i'll measure tomorrow. they are also offset (axle centering pin isn't in the center) as to weight i would think they hold the same or close to the same amount.

i'm pretty sure the xj springs are longer. i know bluetorch fab has those yj to xj spring hangers that push out the wheelbase, so i would assume the xj's are longer.

yeah i know they are longer just not sure by how much right offhand without measuring.

Springs are definately longer, if I am not mistaking, it will give you about 5.5-6" more wheelbase. You will also have to lengthen driveshaft, move your fuel tank, or have a custom one made, and have to have the rear shackle mounts put on the rear. They are also extremely flew and soft. You will need some sort of traction bar or they will be toast in a matter of a couple of wheeling trips. I ran the Wagoneer front springs on mine. It gives you more wheelbase length, about 4 inches, but you only have to use boomerang shackles instead of moving the shackle mounts. You can also retain the gas tank in the stock location in most cases.
