Super duper pimp man. I really dig that. Very sweet, no worries about the super birfs, I've seen a couple of rigs run them and brutalize them and had zero probs, post some pics once it hits the trail please that thing is going to be awesome.
Looks AWESOME P.J.!!! For the doubters, Cassidy has been running rear steer and 39.5's w/toyota axles for what? 2 years? Any more info on building the steering axle? I just picked up an Fj80 front axle cheap, having evil thoughts of it going in the rear of the Zuk.
not yet, but i am trying to have it done to work out bugs on the land before santa and the sleigh show up.. we will see... I appreciate the feedback, seems positive. Kyle, contact me and i will be glad to help with specifics on the axle. Back to making the donuts......
I've bee thinking of running a 'yota rear steer for a while now. How do you think it would do at highway speeds? Any vibrations or wear and tear you can think of?
i have not run it personally yet, but i have seen another guy with rear steer on his toyota buggy do 50 mph with just the ram holding it. However your best bet would probably be to mount a fixed connecting point on the tie rod to the axle when you get on the hard rd for those speeds, that way it will not turn at all. as far as wobble? If alighnment corrections are taken into consideration when building the axle, in theory you should not have any more wobble or problems than you would in the front... When i get it done i will let you know my results.
How about vibration? I recently forgot that the hubs were in and drove to work. (60-70 on the beltline.) I noticed a vibrationg at that speed and knew what it was, but I wonder if you'd get that with power applied like in rear axle.
