I got a streamlight rechargeable for the tow rig. It might be overkill, but I have never wanted for less light....

Should I wire it to key on 12v or constant?

The ones in the ambulances are wired to "battery" and charge when the ambulance is plugged in or running, so they pretty much charge all the time, and they include a 110v charger, which would be on all the time in a house.

Will it run down the truck battery over a week or 2 if i leave it plugged in? Which is better for the flashlight - constant charge or interruptions?

dont have an answer for you....but streamlight is the shit.

Pretty happy with my streamlight tactical light for work, and Galls had the rechargeables on sale.

I found a nice place to mount it in the Superduty. The design kinda sucks, you pretty much have to mount them vertical.

The big box lights we have in the ambulances can mount in any direction:smokin:

i picked up a surefire a around a year ago...have a red filter for it and all...have never wanted for light....just batteries, at 5 dollars a pair i REALLY want the recharge kit....damn things eats batt's like i drink beer

I have a streamlight firebox rechargeable light in my tahoe. I wired it to cigarette plug and it seems to not have a affect on battery life. I have also left in plugged in for about a week and it did not run the battery down.

I have a streamlight and charger in my work truck, its an 06 chevy 2500hd. It plugs in the lighter and I leave it charging all of the time. I have had it on charge for a week once while I was on vaca and there was no noticeable battery drain.
