Live in Steele Creek, but we can drive to Ballyntine/southpark/downtown whatever. Tired of always going to the same places.

Whats good?

 I was just talking to a friend thats stuck working in KY and he was talking about how he can't wait to go to Macs. I look at this thread and think-Macs. Click, whats the first reply:lol:? I figure you two have probably frequented there all to often?

I'm blanked for ideas, I often fail to stay sober when we go out:beer:

I'm in the Matthews area so this is what I'm going to suggest:

Jillian's Family Restaurant.

Greg's BBQ in Matthews. Preferred BBQ joint. Nice crazy old man runs it.

Hops. Decent "microbrews". They are a chain so...microbrews, probably not. Either way, good beer.

McAlister's Deli. More low key.

Kavkaz in Stallings. It is Armenian Food. They've got some good beers on tap and the most AWESOME music videos playing. Apparently the 80s finally made its way over there . It is different, if that is what you want, it is the hook up.

Check out the EpiCenter. They've got a ton o' places to eat, all are chain but sit-down style.

Red Rocks. A touch on the pricey side but then again, its fancy eating. Bet your wife will like that.

Johnathan's Kitchen in Matthews. Your results may vary, go there only if you've got nothing else. It used to be the Tryon House and was bitchin. Then some guy named John bought it, changed the name and then the food got crappy. There is a pond out with a bunch of crap living around there. Ducks, geese, turkeys, cats, etc. Family favorite.

Sushi 101. At the corner of Providence Rd and Ballantyne Commons. If you like Sushi, they are good. Ex liked that place.

Kristophers Sports Bar in Matthews. If you want to get some greasy food, smoke some, drink beer and yell at a TV then have a random chick come up and agree with everything you say, go here. Across and down the street is the Matthews Ale House. Never been but I think the name is good for it.

Bailey's Sports Bar on 51. Same as above. Waitresses bring teh hawt. Also afterwards you can go play a round of pool.

Captain Steve's Seafood on Monroe Rd. Never eaten there but my dad thinks I am insane since I haven't. I guess it is pretty good then!

Elliot's BBQ on Independence. Its BBQ, good nom.

Village Tavern. Many around Charlotte. Pick your fav.

Here are some more fancy eatings:

Cheesecake Factory in South Park. Good but be prepared for a bunch of annoying stuck up people in your way.

California Pizza Kitchen in South Park. Once again, fancy and you are probably gonna get Pizza. It is good.

Harper's Restaurant at Sharon Shopping Center. Good. Their specials are usually pretty stout.

The Original Pancake House at Sharon Shopping Center. This is actually clutch for breakfast.

The Palm. REALLY REALLY good steak, just be ready to drop $200 bucks. Oh, wear a tie...and everything else that goes with said tie.

PF China Bistro near South Park. Haven't been since high school but I remember it being good. It is still there so I think it still is.

Now go.

If you like Japanese food, check out Sakura in Gastonia. Its our favorite. Also like P.F. Changs.

Lots of good places in Ballyntine...If your into pizza Cheese'moz is on Rae rd between Stonecrest and Blakeney, Its owned by Dan Morgan and he's in there quite often. Also some killer Italian is Villa Antonio's at Ballyntine, but its pretty pricey...WELL worth it though.

Never heard of Johnathan's described as a place with a bunch of crap living around it, had to laugh at that one.

I will agree the food was better back when it was the Tryon House, now its kinda iffy. Sometimes you will come away with a big portion of great tasting freshly cooked food, other times it will be under portioned, cold, and you will have to wait up to 30 minutes for it. Really depends if its busy or not. But I have had the best luck with their pasta dishes, the Alfredo ones (tortellini, fettuccini, chicken) are usually very good.

There are still 2 Tryon Houses open, including the original. They are both in upper-north Charlotte. And the family that owns the original Tryon House also has opened Maria's Grill near China Grove. They both still have a better quality of food for the money.

But speaking of Johnathan's anyone ate at the one off of 24/27 near Uwharrie? Any better/worse?

Cheese'moz sucked when I went. Villa kicked ass

Cheese'Mo's has some killer wings. Like Gamedog said, Dan Morgan is the owner and is in the restaurant on a regular basis. Pizzas here are good too.
Beef and Bottle on South Blvd. - best steaks in town no doubt. Its an old Charlotte favorite.
Trio's - on 51 at McMullen Creek
The Graduate - great sandwiches and beer specials
JoJo's China Bisto - Stonecrest
Village Bistro - Ballantyne across from Villa Antonia...the house signature Lobster Rolls are well worth try

kyle,
for a little upscale, try 131 Main in Ballantyne...They have good steaks...for two, with tip, will probably kill $80. or so, but its nice...

you been doing good??

brian

Chipotle is a mexican grill kinda place that is one of my favorites. Probably the nearest one is on south blvd near downtown, but well worth the drive if you like that kind of food.

Best burrito in town. They bring the heat.

I would say Sullivans, Capital Bar and Grill, or Nikkos. (spelling) on south blvd. All very good, but you pay for what you get!

Is the Capital Bar and Grill a chain? I remember eating at a place in DC with the same name, or close to it, and it was damn good!

I have learned after spending thousands of dollars ,bad food , poor service, watered down drinks and dirty eating utensils that theres no place like home. And you don't even have to worry about driving. Remember a penny saved is a penny for the rig!

Forgot I posted this.

We ended up going to Jim and Nicks BBQ.

Been there a million times , but it is always awesome.

And the $3 margaritas arent bad either.

Some awesome ideas here for next weekend, though.

Thanks!

We were thinking of here, we've been a few times. I have a gift card too, but we decided to save it for a rainy (broke) day.

$80? ha ha. Guess you dont drink.

Think the two of us dropped about $120 last time we were there, I am NOT a cheap date.
Been doing good. Thanks Brian!
