Recommendation Needed

Heya fellas. On fleabay and trying to locate a cheaper priced mini starter for the 4.8/5.3/6.o engines (i have the 5.3). All of em are labeled sbc and bbc and having trouble finding anything "LS" specific.

Anyone got any experience with these and know first hand if a sbc one will fit on LS engines or if a recommends in general?

Thanks man. I saved that one just now! Certainly the cheapest option! Was hoping if i went with a mini starter, not only would it give more clearance for the exhaust routing, but that it would conveniently come with the bolts and shims (which i dont have, lol).

Arent the LS starters and mini starter essentially the same size? I know they are smaller then the OEM SBC starters, but I guess I've never laid em side by side



EDIT...Looks like a Tilton is about an inch shorter? Diameter looks about the same

Oh damn! that is a "short" starter!! LOL! But that is a SBC starter they're comparing it to in that pic

Hmmm..looking about here online looks like its still shorter than an LS oem

I think I'm just gunna go oem to make it easy. I'm sure someone out there has the bolt size written down in some forum post on ls1tech

All the LS starters are small diameter. The ones pictured are normal SBC starters so that's not really a fair comparison. The little guy is a gear reduction high torque starter. A normal size LS starter should work with a set of center dump shorty headers. They can be had on the interweb for about 50 bones.

Cant use center dump huggers due to the novak motor mounts, but def decided to go with the oem starter.
