Hey all, I am looking for a good mechanic that knows their way around a 1995 TBI Chevrolet truck. I am having issues with it running right and would like to find someone familiar with these engines and their older systems to sort this thing out for me. So if you know of anyone around the Raleigh, Fayetteville, ENC area that knows their stuff please let me know. Thanks

Not sure what you mean by"running right" but common problems for running rough are the tbi injector wires that are attached to the throttle body and the old style egr valves I've seen mechanically get hung open and even disconnecting the vacuum hose from it wouldn't fix it like usual when the solenoid malfunctions and causes it to let vacuum by to open the egr valve. If it idles like it has a huge cam this could be the culprit. If in doubt, pull it to make sure it is closing all the way.

Sorry, no recommendations up your way

Sorry for my vagueness on running right, it starts and idles well and even drives decent, but if you put your foot in it she stumbles and chugs a good bit. BTW it's a manual and doesn't like to be lugged at all, if I shift a little early at all it'll cause the stumble too.

Timing as mac has stayed and I'd check dizzy cap and coil if internal

My uncle pulled the bed off of it for my dad and fixed the busted pressure line in the fuel pump assembly. It's possible that it gave up again or maybe it finally needs a fuel pump.

I'd definitely check the fuel pressure.

@Mac5005 it's none of those. It's the almighty 305!

Ok I'll definitely check the fuel pump since it sounds like it's had past trouble and I believe the outer ring has slipped as mentioned, because went to check timing and it's way way off to what it should be

My 98 Tahoe stumbled and cut out when standing on the pedal. A simple fuel filter change fixed the problem.

The ignition control module on the distributor will start to give you fits once it starts to go. Not expensive, mild PITA to replace in place (and you gotta use that good heat sink paste). I had a pickup coil crack in a distributor and it would stumble and fall on it's face at higher RPMs until I found the problem and rebuilt the diz.
