Recon 10500 Winch

I am trying to decide what winch to put on my 77 Jeep CJ5

I found several but I was just wanting someones advise.

What do you think of the Recon

You get what you pay for. Not saying its a bad winch, but it aint no warn/superwinch/ramsey. If it was something I planned on using hard and often, Id get one of those 3. For something that would see limited to occasional use, I would get a Smittybuilt winch or Mile Marker. 4wp has the Smittybuilt 10k version for 400 right now.

Synthetic rope is a give and take to me.
When it breaks it is much less drastic, it is much nicer on your hands BUT it will break more frequently in my experience than cable. If it breaks in the wrong spot, the safety factor is out the window.

Smittybilt has built a decent reputation. I have had Warn, Mile Marker and a 10K Smitty. For the money you can't beat the Smitty. Honestly, I think the specs are about the same between the two you have listed.
