Anybody got any numbers on current redi-mix concrete prices by the yard? Me and my 13 yr. old mixed 19 80lb bags today for a 4 stage project. I'm seriously considering making it a 2 stage deal. My debate is one more stage will require another 20, and two more will use another 10 and 10. So I'm looking at mixing another 40ish bags. The only plus side to mixing by the bag is I can work my field stone into my multi level walkway without worrying about the whole thing setting up. The negative is the heavy work and having to really hump it to get it mixed, poured, and rocks set. BTW this is my first project with concrete mixed by myself. I've done large pours on slabs and built and poured large waste water molds, but usually the laborers were more plentiful! Any thoughts or sudgestions?

Last I checked was about $120/yd^3 +/-$10, except one place that had the fancy truck that was mix on site, and they were $95/yd.

I just finished a project of putting concrete under all my pavers. Did about 12 bags and decided to have the next batch delivered. $210 for Concrete Express yard, smaller trucks not hard on the driveway, driver was real helpful but he did have to move on and I was by myself :( Next batch I went back to mixing my own. The stone in the bags is smaller and easier to work and I could do it in stages. Knowing what I know now I would just have kept mixing my own and taken my time.

thanks JC that's the kind of info I was looking for. price, pro's and con's of dealing with the large batch stuff. didn't think about the gravel size being different either! that probably make a huge difference when placing stones.

when you order it from the concrete supplier, you can spec it however you need it with regards to what stone size you need. 90-150 a yard seems about going rate. For the hassle, i'd order it. The truck driver might be a bit of an ass if he finds out he's gonna be there awhile, but when they are going to a cash job for a homeowner, they should know it's gonna be slow going anyway. And, it's their job, paid hourly!!!!!

If you order, place a call for absolute latest friday that you can get.. You can asks them for a guy who wants to make a little cash on the side. I tip the guy like $40 buks (that was 8 years ago) i probably tips him $60. He was just a guy making a few buuks, He ran the float and did whatever needed to be done..
