I ordered the shifter relocation bracket for a 99 wrangler manual. I did not put it on right away when I got the box (big oops)
.
I just found out it came with two boxes. I see one that says manual shoe bracket, and one that is made for the acutely shifter bracket. I go ahead and take my things apart and try to put this "shifter bracket" on... come to find out it will not fit over a piece sticking out b/c I have a manual. (WTF?) I reread the box to find out the shifter bracket is for an automatic: why in the world did they send me an auto relocation bracket and the manual shoe skid??
.
My Q, is there anyway to grind down part of the auto bracket to fit and make it work with the rest of the pieces, or do I have to put the set up back like it was and just add the shoe (the shoe looks like you put on the top of the skid to raise the transfer case up an extra inch or two.
before you flame about not reading directions.... The jeep is about 45 minutes away from my house and I had no internet down there, plus it came with no directions

If that is skyjackers kit I had the same problem when I ordered the Manual bracket. When i got it the box said it was for an auto so I called and they paid to have it sent back. I got the new one and same thing. Come to find out there is only one bracket now availible according tot he guy I talked to. I know I didn't have any insight as I never got around to putting this thing on yet. Good luck Doug

if you end up returning the skyjacker kit, i have an advanced adapters bracket i'm taking off of my 231 that's up for sale. it was stupid simple to install.

Wish you had said something when you picked up those seat covers, I have those brackets, already modified for a manual, I took it off mine when I went to a Novak shifter. My advice would be to return it, and go the Novak shifter, it removes that POS Z linkage the TJ's have and works worlds better. Or if you want to try to use my brackets, let me know. They're taking up room in my shop.

can't you read minds?????

I called a guy that said he had the same problem... and when he modified the piece it worked like a charm.I already dropped the peice off with the guys at the shop and figured they would cut and chop what I marked off. If that does not work I am going to take that other option and take one off your hands if you still have it

Never heard of novak

the novak shifter is what i'm getting. it replaces the entire shifter assembly for the 231. it is just one shaft that goes to on linkage to the shift piece on the tcase. i'm having to do it because my linkage is binding since i did a flat skid. pricey, but should work well for what i need it to do. andy at crs helped me out with that :)

It works modified, IIRC, you'll also have to extend one of the rods also, should be a piece included to weld in.

And no, I never learned to read minds, failed that course in school.
