Removing alarm system?

I found this under the dash of my XJ tonight. Judging from the look of the wiring Im gonna say it doesnt work any more. Not to mention, the previous owner didn't give me a remote for it. I'd like to remove it but I dont want to leave any loose ends (literally). Dont want to leave anything under there that could cause any electrical problems down the road. I want to make it like the alarm was never there.

Does anyone know anything about these systems? Or have any other tips for chasing down the wiring and properly removing it?

how are the wires connected? do they have the snap type connectors? ttaps? Or or they soldered? The only thing i could think of that would need to be reconnected is the starter wire at the ignition harness.
