Is this possible? I bought a 99 TJ last night that someone had slid into a pole. The top took a beating right above the door. It smashed it up pretty good. I know it is that SMC or whatever material and not fiberglass, but wondering if I can save this thing.

I had one repaired and repainted by a body shop that specialized in Corvettes. By the time it was all said and done, I could have bought a new one. But I had to replace a side glass too. YMMV

Yeah, if I can't fix it myself I won't fix it at all. More than likely I'll just stick a soft top on it for now, and hopefully have a wrecked TJ in here with a good top by the time winter rolls around, if I decide to keep it for myself.

You can likely fix that, it's just a lot of work. You need products specifically for SMC, and the repair is done from both sides (one at a time) including SMC-specific body filler. Most of the actual repair is reinforcing patches from the rear, and then tapering out the cracks and minor repair patch on the front, then filler and finish as normal.

Do some research on SMC repairs and make a shopping list, then figure out if you want to spend the money and time.
