Replace grease fittings

I have some grease fitting that are broke and the spring is just hanging out...Do I just drill them and tap a new one in..Do I need to worry about drill shavings getting in the bearings? Or in the shackles?

you might be able to use a small easy out to back the broken part out. then you could just put a new one in, no problems
