Replacement Body and VIN # ?

I am thinking about getting a replacement body for my cj-8. what am i supposed to to about the VIN #. Do i cut the rivets and and remove it, then rivet it to the new body?

That's probably the easiest way. If you called and asked the NC DMV/DOT, their method would probably include some fee/tax/assement.
