Ugh. Came home to a pile of BGE trucks at the entrance to the neighborhood and a pile of not-dry clothes in the dryer. Gas out to some 100+ homes.

Once they get it back on, resetting the water heater is easy (push-start electric pilot).
But what about the furnace? It has an auto elec. pilot. I can't find a big red obvious "reset" button on it.
Do I just turn off the t-stat, and turn it back on so it gets a "go" signal? Our stat is the standard $30 type. As far as I can tell I can't just leave it on b/c it (the stat) dosn't know the furnace isn't running... right?

I'm really wondering about the old lady next door... will I have to go over and manually reset hers too?

PSA: please don't leave your dryer on while you are not home. I can't count the number of houses I've responded to over the years because of this. Just did another one today.

thanks.
Let me clarify. Wife was home doing laundry. I came home to wet laundry and a confused wife. I connected the dots between that and the trucks, and asked, "How long has it been since you heard the furnace?"
She hadn't even noticed it hadn't run for several hours, and the house temp was 7 deg lower than normal. Lol.

Most furnaces now a days has a control board that will lock out system if after 3 attempts it does not detect flame. Cycle high voltage power and it will reset lockout. Use breaker or should be a light switch used for disconnect near furnace. Turn off for a few seconds and back on should make 3 more attempt s to light. Depending on how much air is in lines may have to do this a few times.

Well BGE just called to say they hope to have it fixed by 11 or midnight, and somebody wll come by to make sure everything is working.
So that's cool, we'll see how that goes. Must suck for the techs to have to go knock on 100 doors at midnight lol.
