Restoring Tobacco Road ..

That JD5 looks like its in better shape than the one we still use! If you want to let go of it then let me know. It would go to work on our farm!

Cool pictures and awesome report.

.. would like to restore it to use on my upper field, would save buying a brush hog .. might hit you up for some tips on getting it operational .. :)

... got to the next corner, about 40 feet down into the valley ... ran into a blow-down blocking the road .. cleared around it and kept going .. chainsaw blades weren't cutting it .. ordered some new ones .. be back to deal with this later ...

.. around the last corner and down onto the valley floor .. about 50 feet below elevation .. told the wife, 50 feet didn't sound like much, she said that was like a five story building .. oh, ok .. always said she was the brains of the outfit ... :)

... another surprise .. was taking a 'break' off to the side, looked down and saw a piece of angle .. cleared all the brush away and there was a Ferguson B21 Disk Harrow ... half buried but looks complete .. they just left it parked on the side of the trail ..

.... sad part is that stuffs been sitting buried w trees growing through them and probably still better quality than what you could go buy today.... This is an interesting post and a great break from the others... Thank you sir

HAHA!! The tracker, I knew you were cool!! My DD is just like that one, be careful running over junk is contagious!!!

... thanks Dave! .. right now my fight is with .. Eleagnus Umbellata .. an invasive weed/shrub that has infested the place .. I spend the whole day on my knees with a set of garden loppers .. I cut them off at ground level, then when they try and return, I'll chop their little heads off with my mower .. :)

... here's the old collapsed barn .. it's chinked log construction from the 1800's .. they converted to fuel oil from wood fired at some point .. then it all came tumbling down .. I had to fence it in cause there is a lot of jagged metal and the pups are just too curious .. I plan to jack it back up and put posts around .. will be turning it into a sawmill ..

Now that is cool!

This is so cool. I wish I had some historic remnants on my property. All I've got is some old rocks, and a part of an electric drier that someone dumped there in the late 1900's:lol:

Tobacco Road .. Restored! ... made it to the end of the road .. now I'm cutting trails off the road through the woods for more access, but that's another story .. been lots of work, but very rewarding .. thanks for watching!!

... these shots are going back up the road, from bottom to the top ... happy trails!
