i droped the skid plate on my 77 cj5 to get to the trany, of course the trany came down with it, after puting every thing back up, it grinds going in reverse, can any one tell me what the heck i did???? i swear if this thing keeps up im gonna sell it.

Maybe you bent/messed up your clutch linkage? That's a good one. I can't really think of anything that might have caused your problem.

You may have warped the clutch disc as the transmission was on its way down. Since the reverse has no syncro, it will grind if the disc is not completely releasing. Unless something else is the culprit, I would bet on a disc replacement not knowing all the intimate details. Never let the weight of the transmission rest on the disc because it will usually trash it.

I'm gonna say clutch linkage too. If the trans was attached to the engine, you couldn't "warp" the clutch disc.

What kinda hokey-pokey monkey-fuck shit is it that you can't remove a skid plate without the whole drivetrain coming down on you as well? Must be that Jeep thing.. I don't understand. :flipoff2:
