Reverse steering box, draglink

I've seen astro boxes and what not for wheelbase stretches, but has anyone ever gotten one of the reverse steering boxes and attached their draglink to a behind-the-axle steering arm? This seems like it should work, but I wasn't sure if anyone is doing this.

you would have to move the axle really far forward i would think... relocating the steering rearward a bunch would work unless under compression the drag link hit the oil pan, driveshaft, exhaust, or arms/leafs....

This is a little better explanation of what I am talking about. Erik, you're very correct about the draglink wanting to cycle into something else, I really think the main problem would be it wanting to get into the passenger side spring under compression. As said on the pirate post, you would be looking at roughly a 15" stretch in the front.

dunno if it's worth anything to ya, but i have an astro box tapped for assist.... for sale :)

-Erik <--- thinks the only way to do all that stretch would HAVE to be links due to approach angle

Haha thanks for the offer Erik, but I believe that if you purchased that box with the intention of it working correctly on your YJ, then it would work opposite of how its supposed to in this particular steering set-up. However, if I stretch the front of my YJ another 4 inches, I'll keep this in mind. After thinking about this, it seems that the only particular application it would work very well on would be a driver drop housing (probably a ford 60 front), with a 3 link/ panhard. Erik is correct about the approach angle, but I think a 3 link/panhard would cure this. Really the only reason for that idea would be to keep the box in the stock location, and have a mechanical linkage for a massive front stretch.

yea i talked toa guy who said the astro swap worked great for him with his yj (still leaf sprung) and after doing EXACTLY what he did and seeing the angle of the draglink i can't believe he would run it let alone suggest it to someone else..... i'm not ready to stretch my front enough to run it since i'm wanting to keep leafs (for the time being at least [read that as: i'm broke and can't afford to properly link it])

3 link w/panhand i think it would work pretty well... but i'm not a fan of a 3 link so i don't think i'll ever run it.... sucks i wasted over $200 on this thing after tapping :(
