Revolution in Jco.

Lincolnton was once a great place to cruise until it was banned. Hickory seems to be the new place, but its not the slow cruise that town provides. When i was younger we would clean up our ride at the car wash and just sit in a parking lot and watch the others go by. Today is a different time though. I can not ever remember anything worse than a few burn outs leaving Hardee's.

agreed.

Gaffney was always the place to be down my way.

But back then to talk to friends you had to go somewhere where they were...now you can all start a google hangout I suppose.

Then again, I do kinda wish we'd have had smart phones for the selfies so I guess you take the good with the bad.

ya'll younguns don't know what ya missin...Our cruisin area was William Street and for the most part is four lane. You started at Hardees, drove roughly 1.5 miles and depending what years you cruised, that determined where you turned around at.We had some great places to park and meet but just like with wheelin sites,a dumbass few ruined a good thing for the rest of us.Benson was a different animal with it being down town and only 2 lanes of traffic. The pace is alot slower with chances to talk or what ever from car to car.
We would park and set up drag races, fuss and fight, talk about hoes, cook out, work on cars, talk junk...hell,I even met my wife there. I miss those days but I must admit,it was a big waste of gas and money. Then again, when you are 18 and have a little free time...what ya gonna do?

I can remember taking 4+ hours to make the 1-mile trip around downtown Elkin.

In the old junk I drove you needed the speed to keep the engines cool. So I always parked and sat on the hood until someone stopped by and chatted.

Reminds me of the Bruce Robison song "Tonight" if anyone can find the live version its worth a listen.

it was the facebook of the time. the social networking of the day. and a good way to meet chicks... alright, alright alright.

I grew up in Myrtle Beach. It was a nightly car show/tourist girl fest. Fond memories.

My jeep probably has 20-30k miles on it from a 2 mile stretch of Franklin Blvd in Gastonia and NC70 in Hickory. I met a few girls along the way, and may have done my fair share of redlight racing in the process. But gas was under a buck a gallon when we used to do that. I could drive all night for about $8. Cheaper than a movie now.
