Ok so while I was on the Birthday Bash weekend in Aiken/Ridge Spring, Parents have a house there Less then 1.5 hours to Gulches, They asked me to remove some furniture and haul it all off. So back story is house is not lived in and developed a mold issue. Cleaned it up but it returned on certain pieces of furniture. One being the big ass entertainment center in the great room. My son took the bottom to use as a tv stand. The company came back out and re-cleaned the house and these pieces. My sister convinced the rents that these need to go. So currently they are in the garage which is detached. My question is this. I was thinking I might could dismantle the top or cut it to a height for a second TV stand flip it over and have the top be the base.. Yes I'm aware it will take a lot of work and time and may fail. Not too worried about it I was told to get rid of it. Take to dump or what ever. Pictures help me.

The piece on the bottom would get flipped and used as a top to set our TV on. It would get cut down to a shorter height. This thing took 4 people to move and is a good 4 or 5 feet tall and about 72" long.

This would be the bottom.

There are other pieces of furniture I was tasked to get rid of and I thought about offering to anyone on here who know someone that could use them. May make another thread about that.

The mold shouldn't have returned unless there is too much moisture in the environment it is in. Spray it with mold "killer" (I don't think it actually kills it), and keep it in a dry environment, and you shouldn't have any issues.

That ship has sailed. My sister, miss allergy to everything, has them convinced it came back once. it will do it again. I was told to get it gone. Two pieces I'm not doing that to. I've already reached out to a furniture friend to refinish them. Subject here is is this possible even if it's a shit tone of work. I'm honestly probably going to try. Just looking for some advice or guidance.

A shop with a big enough band saw ......one cut.
At home, skill saw and most of your 4-letter vocabulary.
Probably have to do some deep cuts with a hand saw.
But it's doable.
Adding a top is the easy part.
IMHO, if you DIY, cut it so you don't have to add hinges back on for the doors.

Good advise. I did some measuring here at the house and I think it will be too long. I'll be back down in Aiken in a couple weeks to address the rest of the stuff. Will look into it then.
