Hey, I pulled the old ratty carpet out of my Montero and I was thinking about just hitting the floor with some bed liner spray. Any of you done this, how well does it hold up, any drawbacks?

The inside of my Jeep is rhino lined, and it turned out pretty good. No complaints here at all

most everyone i know uses hurculiner. can be bought at northern tool and its cheaper than real rhyno spray in liner. seems to hold up good. its not uv protected so if its topless might fade over time.

Yea, I was gonna buy some and do it myself. It's a beater, I just hate cleaning carpet in something that is gonna be full of mud anyway.

make sure you mix it good and the floor is very clean and dont forget to scuff the floor up real good so it will stick better. there are a couple areas in mine where i didnt get it scuffed up
its smooth and the stuff popped and cracked up.

I did the rocker panels all the way around my truck and it has held up very well. If it starts to fade you can just hit it with some black spray paint. And yes def make sure you scuff the area and clean it with some acetone!!!! Stinks but it does the job well.

Get you some acetone also. After you get the floor roughed up and swept out, wipe down everything to be herculined to make sure there isn't any grease or glue or whatever to keep that stuff from sticking. I used acetone when I herculined the inside of my blazer and I haven't had any problems with it pealing up yet. It's been down for about 5 years or so now.

how well does that stuff insulate the floor? Thought on putting some insulation tape then lining it?

I doubt that it insulates as well as carpet, and you definately won't be able to insulation tape it and then line it. You could probably tape it after it's lined, but then you have to deal with the tape peeling up. You could just get some rubber floor mats to cover the tape and just hose them off when they get nasty...

After having one that I did myself, I would never use the roll on crap again. It costs more but line-x isn't that bad when you consider the amount of time and effort it will take you. They quoted me around $400 if I pulled everything but the drivers seat and masked the bolt holes. Considering that herculiner could set you back 60-100 plus all that time in scuffing, cleaning, and painting it is worth the money. Plus the spray is much thicker and is great with road noise.

I used the cheap roll on crap on my first truck and it flaked right up. This time I rolled on herculiner after an entire day of prep and I couldn't be happier. Thick and durable. Been about a year and no problems. It's all in the prep!!! Time spent there will pay off. Don't be lazy!!! not even it the corners or under stuff.

speedliner of greenville can do it for $300 to $350.they do alot with imports and sport trucks but they lined the tub of my GF dad's cj and it looks great. I think they can do any color and it does not change the price.I'm going to have mine done soon.

You can buy it in the spray cans at most parts stores. I sprayed the frame of my Ranger last year with it and it still looks great. It's only about $8 a can and 2 should do most floorboards.
