I have a lot of respect for the truly fast imports... So those of you that do drive imports I'm not trying to poke fun at all... but...

I was picking up my sis from school today and beside me I hear the classic rumble of a fart can as he blips the throttle rapidly for no apparent reason as he slowly moves forward about 3 inches closer to the bumper in front of him. As soon as he is next to me I just thought I'd go ahead and fire the truck up and let him hear what a real straight pipe sounds like.

So, he probably sees the gauges and asks how many pounds of boost I can make. I gave him the honest answer on this one, and told him what I've got it on the floor I can get darn close to 35lbs. Then he asks me if I've ever run it at the track before. I told him no, but its probably pushing a bit over 200HP (again, thats an honest answer), and that I'm guessing it would run in the high 14s (LOL yeah right). So he nods, and then I asked him about his car, and hes like yeah it used to have a turbo, but i took it off, but it ran in the high 14s too. Then he drove off... and all I could do is sit there and chuckle to myself. Stock early 90s Acura Integra with a black hood and fart can running in the high 14s? Don't think so.

Galen, btw, your truck sounds nice as usual, though I couldn't hear you shifting gears much I can't hear much of anything with my windows down... but it still makes me want a 5spd even more...
 
I work with a young guy that reffers to himself as a tuner. He had a body kit put on his car and intends to have some other work done, but hasn't turned a wrench yet or done any engine work. He wants to know how he can make 300HP out of a 4banger. I told him to get something that is already fast and give up his ricer ideas of cams, headers, and oversized gauges to go fast.

Displacement and power adders, the only way to go!

I completely understand what you mean... you get the people who think they are fast, and go around posting on the diesel sites "Yeah, there was this loser towing with a gas truck so I got in front of him and filled his cab with smoke HAHAH WHAT A LOSER.".

But, I do find the diesel crowd to be a bit more fun to hang around with :).

I hate ricers and all, because they're just retarded, but the diesel kids are starting to get up there too. Everyone I know that has one is only concerned that a)They're not loud enough and b)They aren't putting out more smoke than a 2 story house on fire.

Diesel trucks are nice, but when that's all they care about, they fall right in the same category as the ricers.

(not ragging on the original poster, I've seen your truck in chapel hill and it seemed pretty nice.)

x2 Saw a vehicle recently and won't disclose the exact license plate but it was along the lines of "I hate v8 vehicles." He's probably just jealous because given the same amount of money to put in either engine, the v8 will always smoke the 4 banger.
 
the diesels are getting just as bad...ill be up in hickory on friday nights to see my girlfriend...and what do you know?..at every stoplight you see a powerstroke and a damn cummins racing...cant see for half a mile from all the smoke...not hating on diesels..i have one..

but mine is a little less quiet and not so flashy..





and yes...i hate the ricers as well

Me too... then I can sell it and use it to pay for... maybe about 4 tanks of fuel?

Don't even get me started on the kids that have their parents go out and buy them a brand new vehicle as their first car...

Maybe the title of this needs to be changed to "General RANT".

I'll never understand the mindsets of people that drive up and down 70 all night like they're in a fawking parade. Is there a point?
 
no friggin clue..it really pisses me off...i have to drive through that shit every friday and saturday..its horrible to see kids in hondas with 6 inch coffee cans ...and then to hear those damn diesels...and im only around it for 10 minutes..i couldnt imagine doing it all night
 
i hate ricers. but they do have a way to make those 4cyls fast and high horsepower fast
bolt on a spoiler, installed upside down so if it actually would do anything, it would provide lift--15hp
Glue on rear bumper cover, really big ~25hp
Glue on side skirts-15hp
Glue on front bumper that sits so low it gets destroyed by the first speed bump-25hp
fart can....the size that lets you put a fist in it- 50 hp
Underglow neon-5hp
NOS stickers-2hp per sticker....you want 5, so that's 10hp.
fire extinguisher-5hp
monster tach, 4" face -5 hp
12" subwooofers and amps, extra weight adds hp, that's probably l 5hp there
Fake racing seats...set at the 45 degree recline position-5hp
Racing rims, really big so that you can tell how small your brakes are- 15 hp
SO there you go, that's 175 horsepower right there, added onto the stock 160ish horse power for a total of over 300 horsepower from a 4cyl. How can a v8 ever take that???!!!!!
 
Hey man, you forgot the tripple decker wing glued to the trunk lid! 15-20 hp there too!
 
I think its funny to see them put those ridiculous obnoxious exhaust on their rice rockets and rims yet their paint is all F'ed up or their engine is knocking... but hey, they have chrome rims!!!!!:huggy:
