Hey fellas...I was able to pick up a set of turbine rims for really cheap (see this thread for pics of style http://www.nc4x4.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87124 ) I picked up a set of 4 for $40. Anyway, they were painted black and I want to bring them back to life and polish them and possibly do some black accents. Ideally, I would love to be able to do this in my back yard...so I'm looking for suggestions on the process and procedures. I'm assuming paint thinner would be good to have, then sand down the rims and polish. Then maybe go black between the fins. Any tips or suggestions would be great.

Another route that I was considering going to save some time is bring the rims to a shop and have them bead/sand/media blasted. Any suggestion on which route would be better and cause less rim damage? Any suggestions on a shop that could do this for me? Then I figured I'd still go about sanding down the rim and polishing it. Then possibly have between the 'fins' black powder coated. Any suggestions on a good shop for this?

Last question...how would you guys go about polishing the rims after sanding? Just some mothers and go at it by hand...or use a Flitz maybe?

Thanks in advance for any and all help or suggestions.

edit...forgot to mention, these are aluminum wheels.

paint striper. set and strip. rinse and redo till done.

then egale one etching mag cleaner with the picture of these rims on the bottle. scrub with brass bristle brush. till clean.

masking tape . rust-o-lum spray can gloss black. 2 coats no clear coat.

remove tape and enjoy for a long time.
