Yeah, it's a shame, but it happened a couple decades ago.
I hope this is not the start of the downfall of quality tools.

Starrett quality dropped a decade or two ago and is just riding a name anyway. I think way more than half their stuff is already made in China. These days the only quality options are old stuff, Japanese stuff, or German stuff.
 
Maybe all my Starrett stuff in the basement will be worth more now?
Prob not..
Not at first, because all the dudes who just realize Starrett is China tools are gonna flood the market with their stuff.
