Im going to Callalente this weekend, but there is some wintry mix in the forecast. Im more concerned about towing from wilksboro on to Mnt city. For those in that area, how well do they keep 421 clear and not icy ?

I went a couple weekends ago, with a few inches of fresh snow and snow was still falling. The roads werent bad, but the parking lot was (for me anyway). They do a pretty good job on the roads up that way.

Usually they do a good job clearing 421 into town and out of town toward Mtn City. The DOT depot is just off of Hwy 194 just as you come into town on 421 so its typically the first road to get hit with the plows and salt. Only when we got the 15+ of snow did they get behind.

You might have to park at food city if the roads are rough...Thats what we did last time.

Might wanna start reconsidering this weekend now...

Seems like we are set for a pretty big storm up here. One of my professors up here is a big weather guy and showed us some of the better websites (.gov type weather sites) and said its an 80% probability for our area of 8+ inches.

forecast hasnt changed much, if any.
