rock sliders

Your probably going to get better pics of good looking ones by searching the web for ones you can buy. JCR offroad and Treks both have rails with pictures on their site. Take a look. While different, they are both strong designs and should help you brain storm a design to work for you.

You drive a tj. A large piece of angle iron and something to cut with are all you really need. Or are you trying to do something with square or round tubing?

Really depends on what you want to build. Like Braxton said it would be easiest to go down to Wall Lumber and pick up some angle iron, drill some holes in and bolt it to the tub. But its not going to look the best IMO. I priced it at around $15 for a piece large enough, but it will be a lot heavier.

Are these the kinds your looking to build?

If your looking to build some like these, You will need someone with a brake press that can bend up the 3/16 steel.

I have been working on making some my self.

I will get the measurements and draw it up. I will work on this soon.

I can see what I can get a piece of 3/16 plate for.

Then we can cut out 4 of them, then If you can get them bent up.

All that would be left would be to get a piece of tube for the slider part, I think I have a source for that.

As long as your not in a hurry I think we can make them cheaper than buying them.

But I will do the math.

trail gear has them so cheap almost makes you wanna buy them 225 retail and alex down at carolina truggies may can get them cheaper

If you let me know on these sliders by the end of the day ill put a order in on them and this will be a rare occasion of no shipping charges.

sliders

Alex,
do they make them for the unlimited? if so how long are they and what's the price.
Thanks
Jody

I can do $750 if you're willing to pick it up at my shop or at Rides. There's not nearly enough room for me to eat the shipping charge to your door on that and charge the 800.

When installing armor that rest against the body, does anyone use any kind of sealant to keep water from getting between the armor and the body to prevent rust? Or do you just mount and let any water that finds its in... find it's way out too? I can't image it would be a huge issue, but thought I'd ask.

Yes its best not to seal it, If you seal it, it will trap water and mud inside more than not sealing it. I have seen rubber gaskets that go between the sliders and the rocker panels, But I am about to build a set of sliders and I am not sealing them.

I made mine and actually got the basic design from someone on another forum. they have held up pretty well and have been slammed pretty hard a couple of times heres a drawing of what I did......

I did have to go back and trim them in some areas to make them fit a lil more flush. but as far as sliders go I think I have 30 or 40 bucks in them for the flat stock....

I painted the area between my body and slider with a good rust preventive paint then I want over that with roll on bedliner.the chunks of rubber have kept the pieces from rubbing together so far...

here are mine, don't have dimensions, but they are pretty tuff..... obviously don't have a bender for the step, but i like em the way they are..... a little different.
