rockwells

I'm in college. I am bilingual in American and Drunkard/Gooberhead.

Are you translating or did you give up??

This is funny as hell.

common jimmycat give us another laugh :shaking:

this is you brain when you hoof the spam instead of cook with it:fuck-you:

no i did not give up .just need some info sorry not as smart as some of the assholes around here. so could anyone tell me about a quarter eliptcal lift kit . i just want the pros and cons

Don't let all the guys on here get to ya. Everybody acts like a jerk on the internet.

x2

I'd tell ya some info on the quarter eliptical if I knew anything about it, but never looked into it myself. Personally I'm also of the mindset that, short of a fullout tube buggy, trying to do anything other than just normal ol' leafs is unnecessary due to the simplicity/super cheapness/ease of install/ease of repair factor they have and that if you do it right they can flex plenty enough to do anything short of comp rockkrawling IMO

:shaking: There's sooooo much more to an offroad rig than "flex"

Jimmycat - I haven't built a 1/4 elip, but here's what I understand of them in a nutshell- They're fine, and do just fine in the job of holding the ass-end of a rig off the bump stops.. Leafs to build one can be cheap, but so are a used pair of coil springs. If the area above the rear axle doesn't have alot of room, a 1/4 elip might be the better choice over coils/air shocks/coilovers.

BUT, you still have the effort, time, & expense of making the 4-link to go with that 1/4 elip... It's not like just throwing a different set of leaf springs and clamping them down with u-bolts.

It's not a "lift kit".. it's just another way to suspend a rig running a 4-link.

Come on Rich, I'm not that dumb, of course you can't wheel unless your tires are at least 20" wide and 40+" tall :flipoff2:

jimmycat - I mean if you already have the kit and its just sittin around why not install it, from the little bit I've seen about the 1/4 elip setup it flex'd pretty well, so yea if you already have the kit id go fer it.

I wasn't referring to size of tires either...

i have a kit i bought from spidertrax about 2 years ago and wondering if its worth installing under my sammie.

you could maybe talk to some of the guys on zuwharrie.com or zukikrawlers.com... they would prob give you more insight about that kit, and about how the 1/4 ellip does on a sammy

but as Rich said, It is basically the same thing as a coil spring suspension... the only diff is that your using half a leaf pack to suspend the vehicle instead of a set of coils.... the way it works is all in the links... IMO its a lil easier to adjust the 1/4 ellip for ride height and spring stiffness, then with coils

Did anyone see this flex steer?! :shaking:

Gah, that is like four wheel steering without asking for it.

except in that situation, your not ness wantin the 4ws... a correctly setup 4 link would eliminate that
