i have never heard , not even one person, say that this would be illegal... take that for what it worth though, no warranty expressed or implied....
i am going to be building a cage VERY soon, and it will be tied into my (GASP!!) unibody, welded on, and i dotnt see any problems with it, as long as the design is proper.

Yes. I know of no G.S. 20 (motor vehicle code) that does not allow it.
