So this pecan limb did a number on the shop roof. Thought I’d pull just enough shingles to replace the two boards it broke. However with the way they are interlaced I’m now trying to figure out how to not remove them all. Suggestions?

What do you mean by "interlaced"? They look like an an architectural shingle, which install like a basic 3-tab shingle, but an architectural shingle often has multiple layers laminated together on the same shingle.

Basically, 2 or 3 of those layers belong to the same rectangular shingle. Was that what you're asking?

I'm struggling to find a good picture to illustrate this...

Also, what an awesome company name.........

Yes that is what I found. They are layered and staggered which I knew they should be. Also found a rotten board above the break. So this is going to quickly snowball I fear....

@ghost, Flat bar, thin putty knife warm sunshine and take your time, or you will be replacing more of them than you want.

Putty knife on the blue lines to work them loose and save those shingles (this is when the warm sunshine helps). Long flat bar under the red line to work those two rows upper nails lose ( then pull them out from the top side with flat bar).....

That is pretty much what I learned. I made some good progress before dark. Unfortunatly I found a couple rotten boards so it looks like it's about to snowball.....
