OK I've finally decided to do most of my own work on my WJ. I have the factory shop manual and have changed, plugs, belt and a few other things to save some money. I'm looking at doing brake pads now before they get really bad. My question is should I go with ceramic, metallic, semi metallic or basic organic cheapo's? Just to let you know I only run this on the beach and DD. I can't stand all the break dust of the cheap ones or too much noise. Are the ceramic worth it in this situation? What would you guys recommend? Thanks for your replies. Dave

I do not use "life time" brake pads or "high mileage" brake pads, Pads are designed to wear out, if you put a really tough or hard pad on the rotor will wrap due to the added heat or it will get worn or gouged. This is my experience and the extent of my knowledge on it.

I run the ceramic and have had good luck them. I like Raybestos brand. I've rode with myself and don't want to take chances on a cheap brand. An economy starter never hurt anybody, I think you get what I'm saying.

No mountains, no problems. Here's the thing, unless you like throwin money away, you should go with a semi-metalic so you dont warp a set of rotors, like he said. Not to mention your WJ is a fairly light weight ride. If you decide to go with a big tire, probably 35s or so, yeah, upgrade. Just remember, whatever you do to "your" vehicle, do it right, because your life and others depend on it. Glad to see you try it yourself. good luck.
