I was wanting some information on the rough country 4.5" lift kit. I am about 3 weeks away from getting a 98 xj and I want to put a lift on it trim the fenders and put 34x10.50r15 swamper LTB. I would just like some opinions on that lift.

Thanx

what is wrong with them? I would like to know before I get the jeep and the lift. I would rather not buy junk and I am working with a budget.

Lower quallity parts. There's alot of options out there for a good lift. Let me know if we can help, we're right in Indian Trail on 74, 2 minutes from 485. Give me a call and we can see what's in your budget. 704-893-2208

"rough" is one description...

not an XJ...but the 4" lift I had on my TJ gave me about 3-1/2" on the front, and about 1-1/2" on the rear...

I installed a Terra Flex Generation II lift on a Cherokee and then two weeks later installed a rough country lift on a slightly older cherokee. Gawd what a difference in quality. The Terra flex kit was well engineered and beefy.

You definately get what you pay for.

my buddy was running there leafs on his YJ and they sagged like crazy from 4" to maybe 2". also one of them bent pretty good so from the only experience i have seen with them they are junk....

I had their YJ kit previously. The kit was missing parts, had wrong parts, included a windshield banner decal with words spelled wrong, and it rode like a tractor and the proceeded to sag within a year a couple of inches. I made it work and it was definitely cheap but I wouldnt purchase from them again now that I understand there are much better options.

i would get it if i was on a tight budget. i have used the 4.5 kit on a past Xj and was semi pleased. it was a OK lift but the ride quality is really bad compared to others. you get what you pay for but if your on a budget there not reAllY bad.

Have a rough country coil sitting in my room from a buddys jeep...it broke in half....:shaking:

EDIT: His jeep is 2wd also and doesnt see offroad use.

I strongly recommend Rusty's Offroad's 4.5" XJ kit. I have the kit with full rear spring packs, and it is a great kit. Comes with everything you need, good quality. Best bang for your buck out there.

Rough Country lifts are cheaper and lower quality. I ran their 3" om an XJ I had and shattered the rear leaf pack. 2 of the springs actually broke and I wheeled it some but not that hard.

Now being in the business, I have sold a ton of BDS lifts and they just don't come back. the quality is the best I have seen and the warranty rocks......
