I thought this was going to be a thread about a center console whipping up on the sportfishers last week.

Seriously though, A+ for that captain getting it back on plane and getting to the dock safely. What was cooler was the other competitor that turned around and came back to check on them and make sure they got going again.

My take, the boat busted water flooded in and the captain stopped and called mayday and the damage he could see from the bridge.. The other captain spun around in the trough and hauled ass back to the damaged boat to assist and told that captain to max the throttle and keep the bow up after seeing the hole was above the waterline. It was a great day to get a busted boat back to the docks.

The turn basin is no joke though. I've been with guys several times when it was rough and thought we were gonna sink before we ever hit the ocean. Shit can get sideways in there in the blink of an eye.

That's the troof!

2 things you don't want to do in an inlet....turn sideways, or go slower than the waves (so you don't take one over the stern). Lots of risk in the 1st boats maneuver in those conditions, but would have been very valuable if things went south for the damaged boat. I'd hate to be trying to get close or pull someone aboard in that. Best they could probably have done is get floatation to anybody that ended up swimming, and pick them up wherever the current took them that was more settled. Was it outgoing tide?

Wonder how much water he took on? He looked heavy getting back on plane.
