Rover people...need opinions

How are you with electrical problems?.....cause they have a lot of 'em. Parts are expensive as H. E. double hockey sticks.

I have a defender 90.....I can't speak for Discovery's but the D90's are very easy to work on. We do about all our work ourselves. Labor from the stealerships is what kills. Parts are not cheap and yes they do have their fair share of electrical problems. Im not telling you that you shouldn't buy one because honestly my Defender has gone places that people in other vehicles have turned around and they are good daily drivers. I almost bought a discovery that was lifted and locked before i bought my current XJ. We 3 rovers and we recommend them to anybody.

Rovertym Engineering is the place to go to get your lift stuff so finding one that already has that stuff on it will save you a lot. Check out their website...I think its www.rovertym.com

heard that opinion the most....but why. i know there super $$$ in the parts section but why else???

also heard there axles are weak but haven't confirmed that yet.

I just remember this one thread on thewolfweb a couple years ago.... owner asked opinions on a landrover. Got opinions from people who told him to run, apparently didnt like the answers he got. He bought the rover. Literally went into the shop less than a week after purchase, and stayed. He had to take it back something like 5 times. At one point he had owned it for like 2 months and been able to drive it about a week.

Heard too many of these. But i will say, i have heard from satisfied owners as well. Who knows if their cars are reliable or if they deal with constant electrical problems and whatnot...... Honestly if i wanted one i would get one.

Sometimes i just sit and think about why the are so CHEAP. They depreciate faster than most anything i can think of.

my old roomate is wanting to sell his 96 disco....v8, 160k, 3"rovertime coils. It needs a new starter

Wow, that first Disco looks familiar.

Axles are beefy, tough to break unless you're going bigger than 33s. Electrical problems, yes they happen on some Rovers. Depends which one you get.

Rovertym, that and Old Man Emu are the way to go on Rovers, combo of both works fine for me.

As with any vehicle, you just have to find a reliable one. Mines been great for 5+ years.

33's stock isn't really what I'd consider "tough" or "beefy". Heck, a Dana 30 will do that.

Yea a D30 could do that. But would you trust it?

Seen enough STOCK D30s break on the trail from just 33s .... the Disco axles are strong enough STOCK to hold the 33 without any modification ...
