Royal Blue

where exactly did you go. I live in knoxville and haven't found any really great places in royal blue. The only place we go is to the top of the mountain where there is a bunch of sand and play around. it is a good afternoon ride, have anymore specifics

Oh yeah, Royal Blue is legal to ride. In fact, it is kind of pricey. Depending on which side of the interstate you ride on, there is something for everyone. There is an old abandoned amusement park at the end of a tattered black top. Looks like carowinds after a tornado...kinda cool to see.

It is legal to wheel... don't recall the pass/payment situation, but we were there last summer. As olejunky said, a light duty hillclimb (1/2 the rigs were open & made it with some skinny pedal) on the way to the sand mine/play area, and a decent rocky v-notch near the "top"... I have heard there's more on the opposite side where the ATVs ride?

I don't know which side you guys run to get to the top, but the side we went up last year for the Jeep Jamboree was not easy and there was no way that a stocker with open diffs could do it.

We stayed in Oak ridge, TN for the Jamboree. It was the birthplace of the Atomic Bomb:
Oak Ridge
We also went to Coal Creek Off-Road Park. It has 72,000 acres and 160+ miles of trails for ATV's, Motorcycles, and vehicles:
Coal Creek (Windrock)
You can also stay at Royal Blue:

I thought there was alot in the area to do.

That appears to be the same hill we went up... and it was done by at least 1 Commando (SOA/33" TRXUS/401/auto) that was without a doubt open at both ends...

While he did open the 4bbl. a time or 2 :D and had to backup/take a different line several times... he made to the top!

There were witnesses!

He is the man then ! No kidding, I was not lifted at the time, and there were several people who pre-ran the trail and didn't think I would make it. But I did :driver:. It's not an easy trail.

Steve, we never think you're gonna make it!!!:flipoff2: But then again, I never think I'm gonna make it until I put the skinny in the floor!!:bounce2:

My avatar was taken at Royal Blue.

He did also wear a few trail scars in his week old paint too...

Royal Blue was a fun place to ride.

Looks like a cool place to wheel. North of Knoxville, It should be close to windrock/coal creek, am I correct. Might be a good place to stop on the way to or from windrock.

not really close, windrock is on the west side of knoxville and north toward oak ridge, royal blue is on the east side of knoxville heading toward lexington probably 45 minutes to an hour apart
