Anyone by chance know the valving of the 5000 series Rancho shocks?
I have looked all over the place and haven't come across any of the numbers I'm looking for.

The reason I ask is because the rear of the truck is so light, but the truck seems to be too stiff in the rear. Going over cracks or potholes in the road, the rearend wants to skip and bounce across the ground, rather than go over them smoothly.

Stiff....those shocks blow.

My friend had some on his Yota which usually rides like a cloud but made it ride like s_it.

I had a pair of 9000x's which were adjustable and I never could get them right either. Rode like crap.

The price of the 5000's should give you some indication on how they'll ride, handle etc

Well I wish they were cheap, but for Rancho 5000s they really weren't. Because they are 14" shocks they were over $100 for 2 of them I believe.

They would probably be fine on a fullsize truck, but mine is just much too light.

My front shocks are 255/70 valving I believe, so I'm just trying to find what these Ranchos are so I'll know to either get that valving or get the lesser 170/60. I would imagine the 170/60 would probably do the job anyway, but just wanting to be sure.

Did your truck come with those Rancho's on it when you brought it?
The reason why I asked is because the 97 S10 i had did the same thing with stock strings and shocks on it. Even my jeep does it.

I think its the leaf spring that is as at faught. There made for carrying a load so when there not, the weight of the bed isnt sufficient for compressing the springs any when going over pot holes and cracks so it just bounces.

Put you a bag or two of playsand, fertilizer or something like that and it should keep it down.

No, this a SASed S10 with a 9" in the rear.
The Ranchos are 14", which is a little too big for me almost.
Before the truck seemed to ride a lot better when it came to this kind of thing. I really think it is the shocks, the old shocks weren't as stiff as these.
Although my front Bilsteins are more stiff, they have a ton more weight on them but they still seem to do better.

oh my bad...i thought it was stock. If your running that, you know the basics of rebound and compression. Ill it with that.
