Doing hard time

Went to a Christmas concert this weekend.
Two ladies behind me chatted thru the first 2 songs. I turned around and gave them the "I'm going to drag you out to the parking lot and slam your head in a car door 17 times" look. They quit talking.
Later, her kid sat in the lap of the woman behind me, and proceeded to kick the back of my seat. At least he quit talking and squalling because he was bored and didn't want to be there.
A few rows up and to the left, a guy spent about half the concert on the cell phone. I couldn't hear him, but I know it bugged everyone around him.
Way on back behind me in the auditorium, I guess folks couldn't hear the music too good, so they just chatted.
Why didn't all these folks just stay home, if they didn't want to hear the music????
