After pulling my head and having it pressure tested and machined....I noticed that my cylinder walls on 2,3,and 4 had scars on them. I also noticed that I have excessive rust in the water jackets. I know that it's a cast block and water+metal=rust but it seems like there is more than there should be. I flushed the system a few times but every time I drain the water out....it's rust colored. What would make it rust this much?

lack of maintenance. coolant only lasts a couple years before its additives break down.

Using distilled water helps reduce deposits & rust too. If you have ever done any deep fording and got crap water in your overflow tank/cooling system it can make a nasty, rusty mess in a short time. Don't ask me how I know...
