Yesterday Leslie and I worked on her XJ. She did most of the removal of the interior. I worked on the floors. I have most of the cutting done, and some of the grinding. My question is, what thickness sheet metal should I use to repair it? Not sure what the engineers had in mind when they built these things. The floor is spot welded to the unibody. Is this just to connect the body? or, is it part of the whole structural strength? My plan was to cut it out(the patch) and fit it as good as I can. Go underneath and mark the frame, and then drill holes to spot weld in. Or course I would be welding all the way around too. suggestions?

Leave it out so she can Flinstone it to stop.

Her feet are not large enough
You could also ice fish with it!

jc whitney for replacement panel?????

My basic question is can I get by with thinner, easier to work with stuff, and fiberglass over the top of it, or, does it have enough to do with the structual intergrity to put back as thick as come out of it, and spot weld it in to the unibody.

the flor is structural in a unibody 16 or 20ga sheet metal should be all it's made of though.
